Endomyocardial biopsy - Heart biopsy
Endomyocardial biopsy is a procedure by which the cardiologist can procure tissue fragments from the heart to be analyzed by a pathologist/. The biopsy procedure is performed by introcuding a bioptome through the neck veins until it reaches the right side of the heart . This is done usually under x-ray visualization to ascertain the position of the tip of the bioptome. Once the bioptome reaches this site, the cardiologist can take several samples which are, in turn, sent to a pathologist.
