Pericarditis - Fibrinous -II

Under Construction

The fibrinous exudate clearly shrouhds the transverse sinus with a hematoma (dark brown), indicating that the fibrinous exudate is present in the pericardial cavity and coats the entire surface of the heart. Including the sinuses and recesses.. LV = Left ventricle. PA = pulmonary artery and valve.

RV = right ventricle. RVOT = right ventricular outflow tract. SVC = superior vena cava.

The light micrsocopic findings of this type of fibrinous pericarditis are illustrated here.

This exuberant fibrinous exudate leads to an organization process. The organization process has a small number of possible tissue responses as shown in this diagram.
