Arrhytmogenic Right Ventriclular Dysplasia / Cardiomyopathy (ARVD / ARVC)

These micrographs show H&E and Trichrome stained images of the right ventricle from a case of arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy/dysplasia. The compact zone of the right ventricle has been completely replaced by adipose tissue (delineated by the red dotted line). Some of the trabecular myocardium is also replaced by adipose tissue. The trichrome stain also shows interstitial fibrosis in the areas which still show myocardium in the trabeculae.
