Giant Cell Myocarditis
head>
Micrograph of the myocardium shows abundant, destructive mononuclear inflammatory infiltration with conspicuous eosinophils. The infiltrates spread through the perimysial and endomysial spaces. There are areas where the myocardial fascicles have been replaced by inflammatory infiltrates and / or fibrous tissue. Multinucleated giant cells are rather conspicuous and are present in the interstitium as well as forming indentations into the fascicles of myocardium. There are no epithelioid granulomas.
