Myocardial Infarct - Healed Transmural - I
Gross image of a well healed posterolateral transmural infarction. The arrows show the infarct and it lateral and posterior limits. The healed area shows a thinned wall with loss of all the compact zone of the myocardium (transmural). Only some of the trabecular myocardium seems viable. The anterior and septal borders of the infarction show white scar tissue representing replacement fibrosis.
