Myocardial Infarct - Healed Transmural - I
Gross image of a well healed posterolateral transmural infarction. The arrows show the infarct and its lateral and posterior limits. The healed area shows a thinned wall with loss of all the compact zone of the myocardium (transmural infarction).
Only some of the trabecular myocardium seems viable. The anterior and septal borders of the infarction show white scar tissue representing replacement fibrosis.
