Hemangioma - atrial
Light microscopic fields of a cavernous hemangioma from the left atrium. There are bundles of cardiac myocytes interrupted by the fibrous walls of the cavernous vascular spaces. The image on the left is an H&E stain and the image on the right is a Masson trichrome stain showing the fibrous bundles. Ventricular muscle hemangiomas can show a similar histologic pattern. On gross examination solid and cavernous features can be fully demonstrated.
